JIM ANDERSON
Jim Anderson (SHS Coach 1994 – Present.) Coaching Legend.
Jim Anderson has inspired hundreds of track athletes through an extraordinary coaching
career spanning more than 62 years (and continuing!). Coach Anderson began his journey in
1961 after graduating from Baker High School and Eastern Oregon University. He joined
Sisters Middle School and Sisters High School in 1995 (before the high school was even built)
after 31 successful years at Clackamas High School, where he inspired athletes across all skill
levels, especially in the pole vault, triple jump, and long jump. Some of Jim’s athletes were
coached from early middle school through high school. Jim’s coaching philosophy goes
beyond athletic performance; he instills values of commitment, self-belief, and leadership in
his athletes. Known as a dedicated mentor, he invests countless hours with his athletes,
offering additional practice opportunities and fostering a supportive environment. His
contributions have helped produce numerous state champions, including hall of famers Amy
Cretsinger and Sara Small. Renowned statewide, Jim has built a welcoming culture for his
athletes, earning accolades and admiration as a true leader in the track and field community.
In recognition of his efforts, the Sisters community in 2023 dedicated an area at the track
and field stadium as the “Jim Anderson Vertical Jump Area.” Jim Anderson's impact will
resonate for years to come, making him a deserving member of the Sisters High School Hall
of Fame.
